The outside of a home deserves to be as special as the inside. The existing deck on this residence featured multiple tiers that were popular at the time of original construction, but weren’t well laid out to serve as usable spaces. Our client wanted a more appealing space that would feel inviting and serve specific functions like grilling, dining, entertaining, and relaxing. We took the challenge and transformed all the various elevations, letting the furniture define the “rooms”. Now there are six distinctive areas: dining, cooking, socializing and entertaining, plus a second floor balcony off the master suite, a vestibule transition area with a trellised vestibule, and a lower bluestone patio in an intimate setting. We utilized modern composite materials that are low maintenance for the homeowners and stand the test of time for many years of outdoor enjoyment. The results are casual comfort, with a welcoming reception in a utilitarian and inviting space
