Charming Craftsman Bungalow
The craftsman cottage or bungalow style is highly popular in some areas of the country and we love when we have the opportunity to bring this look to Bucks County. Our client wanted to dress up an existing simple 1960’s ranch house and give it a makeover with a new and interesting style. The craftsman/bungalow style works well on this type of home because the underlying structure can be easily transformed. We started with the quintessential tapered columns to help highlight the details, kept clean lines, incorporated projected overhangs, and exposed the stone foundation. With the addition of the turned “A” gable, the house now has better depth and proportion, improving an otherwise bland façade. With a walk off porch, we gave the home additional “personality” and increased the space for outdoor front porch relaxing and entertaining. By not having railings, the porch is open to communicate with friends and family as well as nature.
